Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Consumer Services and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 1.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS), which rose 5.47% or 0.2450 points to trade at 4.7210 at the close. J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) added 3.93% or 0.4750 points to end at 12.5600 and Portucel (LS:PTI) was up 3.79% or 0.1280 points to 3.5040 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mota Engil (LS:MOTA), which lost 0.06% or 0.0010 points to trade at 1.7000 in late trade. EDP (LS:EDP) declined 0.06% or 0.0020 points to end at 3.1980 and Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP) gained 0.30% or 0.0280 points to 9.3790.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 37 to 16 and 2 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for March delivery was down 3.94% or 1.25 to $30.62 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 4.17% or 1.31 to hit $30.10 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.94% or 10.30 to trade at $1085.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.21% to 1.0836, while EUR/GBP rose 0.66% to 0.7515.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.26% at 99.18.
