Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech, Healthcare and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.79%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.77%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Vinci SA (PARIS:SGEF), which rose 1.91% or 1.13 points to trade at 60.33 at the close. AXA SA (PARIS:AXAF) added 1.90% or 0.47 points to end at 25.20 and Orange SA (PARIS:ORAN) was up 1.74% or 0.26 points to 15.24 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Airbus Group SE (PARIS:AIR), which lost 0.56% or 0.37 points to trade at 66.13 in late trade. Technip (PARIS:TECF) declined 0.47% or 0.23 points to end at 49.94 and Valeo SA (PARIS:VLOF) shed 0.39% or 0.50 points to 126.95.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were JC Decaux SA (PARIS:JCDX) which rose 2.96% to 34.45, Adocia (PARIS:ADOC) which was up 2.53% to settle at 89.200 and Eramet (PARIS:ERMT) which gained 2.25% to close at 60.01.
The worst performers were Solocal Group (PARIS:LOCAL) which was down 2.31% to 0.380 in late trade, Elior (PARIS:ELIOR) which lost 1.20% to settle at 18.16 and Coface (PARIS:COFA) which was down 0.96% to 9.44 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 469 to 331 and 61 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 1.60% to 17.29.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.06% or 11.60 to $1105.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.82% or 0.80 to hit $44.67 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 2.71% or 1.33 to trade at $50.58 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.31% to 1.0998, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.7056.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.33% at 97.34.
