Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Chemicals, Telecoms and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.90%, while the MDAX index declined 1.10%, and the TecDAX index fell 1.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which rose 0.26% or 0.065 points to trade at 25.120 at the close. E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) added 0.07% or 0.010 points to end at 14.645 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN) was down 0.30% or 0.230 points to 76.030 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG), which lost 4.14% or 2.155 points to trade at 49.845 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG) declined 3.83% or 0.500 points to end at 12.565 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) shed 3.73% or 1.230 points to 31.730.
The top performers on the MDAX were Rhoen-Klinikum O.N. (XETRA:RHKG) which rose 2.29% to 25.005, Airbus Group (XETRA:AIRG) which was up 1.69% to settle at 63.770 and Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which gained 1.69% to close at 11.755.
The worst performers were Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which was down 3.86% to 9.487 in late trade, Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which lost 3.81% to settle at 69.260 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (XETRA:MTXGn) which was down 3.00% to 92.500 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which rose 3.88% to 139.200, SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was up 2.33% to settle at 14.690 and QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which gained 1.59% to close at 2.050.
The worst performers were Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which was down 4.33% to 5.414 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (XETRA:NDXG) which lost 3.42% to settle at 19.465 and Dialog Semiconductor (XETRA:DLGS) which was down 2.64% to 41.970 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 553 to 175 and 37 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 7.65% to 19.14.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.42% or 5.00 to $1196.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.50% or 0.28 to hit $56.11 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.34% or 0.21 to trade at $63.10 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.49% to 1.0735, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.7194.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.48% at 98.07.
