Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Mining and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO), which rose 5.29% or 0.0595 points to trade at 1.1845 at the close. E.ON Russia (MCX:EONR) added 3.54% or 0.1000 points to end at 2.9220 and Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE) was up 3.42% or 65.0 points to 1968.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Polyus Gold International Ltd (MCX:PGIL), which lost 3.88% or 6.10 points to trade at 151.00 in late trade. Sberbank Rossii OAO Pref (MCX:SBER_p) declined 2.44% or 1.24 points to end at 49.61 and Gruppa Cherkizovo ao (MCX:GCHE) shed 2.41% or 18.0 points to 730.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 112 to 86 and 13 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.82% to 35.520.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.42% or 5.00 to $1175.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.16% or 0.70 to hit $59.75 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.01% or 0.65 to trade at $63.05 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.93% to 54.206, while EUR/RUB rose 1.31% to 61.088.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 95.11.
