Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Power, Oil & Gas and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Moskovskaya Birzha OAO (MCX:MOEX), which rose 4.27% or 4.82 points to trade at 117.65 at the close. AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) added 3.96% or 5700 points to end at 149700 and AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) was up 3.12% or 0.620 points to 20.510 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE), which lost 2.66% or 77.0 points to trade at 2820.0 in late trade. Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG) declined 1.61% or 14.5 points to end at 886.0 and Polyus Zoloto OAO (MCX:PLZL) shed 1.42% or 62.0 points to 4316.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 131 to 94 and 24 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.58% to 24.180.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.81% or 10.25 to $1273.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.13% or 0.57 to hit $49.95 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.22% or 0.63 to trade at $50.83 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.13% to 62.1062, while EUR/RUB rose 0.08% to 67.614.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 98.70.
