Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Consumption sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 2.39% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA:RAIL3), which rose 1.35% or 0.12 points to trade at 9.00 at the close. Engie Brasil Energia SA (SA:EGIE3) added 1.09% or 0.40 points to end at 36.95 and Hypermarcas SA (SA:HYPE3) was up 1.04% or 0.30 points to 29.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which lost 10.59% or 1.27 points to trade at 10.72 in late trade. BRF SA (SA:BRFS3) declined 7.25% or 2.90 points to end at 37.10 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) shed 5.94% or 0.28 points to 4.43.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 258 to 106 and 31 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.43% to 29.77.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.14% or 1.75 to $1228.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.10% or 0.05 to hit $48.70 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose 0.30% or 0.43 to trade at $142.00 .
USD/BRL was down 0.91% to 3.0910, while EUR/BRL fell 1.14% to 3.3191.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 100.15.
