Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Sunday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Transport and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General added 1.01%, while the ADX General index added 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN), which rose 5.79% or 0.029 points to trade at 0.530 at the close. Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) added 4.47% or 0.016 points to end at 0.374 and Takaful House (DU:DTKF) was up 4.19% or 0.017 points to 0.423 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX), which lost 2.41% or 0.070 points to trade at 2.830 in late trade. Damac Properties Dubai Co PSC (DU:DAMAC) declined 1.20% or 0.03 points to end at 2.46 and Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) shed 0.73% or 0.004 points to 0.541.
The top performers on the ADX General were Methaq (AD:METH) which rose 13.21% to 0.600, Arkan Bld Mt C (AD:ARKN) which was up 9.52% to settle at 0.92 and Rak Ceramics (AD:RKCE) which gained 9.27% to close at 3.30.
The worst performers were Ad Natl Ins Co (AD:ADNI) which was down 9.59% to 1.98 in late trade, Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which lost 5.75% to settle at 0.820 and Natl Bk Of Ad (AD:NBAD) which was down 2.73% to 7.83 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 19 to 3 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 13 rose and 8 declined, while 9 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 10.89% or 2.85 to $29.07 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 9.07% or 2.73 to hit $32.78 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.75% or 9.40 to trade at $1238.40 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.56% to 4.1360.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.37% at 95.99.
