Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Chemicals and Technology sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Financial Services, Construction and Software sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.27% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index fell 0.41%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Bayer AG NA (XETRA:BAYGN), which rose 1.80% or 2.400 points to trade at 136.050 at the close. K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN) added 1.74% or 0.500 points to end at 29.235 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) was up 1.16% or 0.285 points to 24.935 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn), which lost 1.03% or 0.740 points to trade at 71.270 in late trade. Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (XETRA:BMWG) declined 0.82% or 0.950 points to end at 114.350 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (XETRA:HEIG) shed 0.72% or 0.520 points to 71.310.
The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which rose 2.12% to 27.485, Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which was up 2.07% to settle at 56.140 and DMG Mori Seiki AG (XETRA:GILG) which gained 1.38% to close at 30.525.
The worst performers were Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which was down 2.51% to 95.250 in late trade, GEA Group AG (XETRA:G1AG) which lost 2.43% to settle at 42.520 and Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (XETRA:DWNG) which was down 1.94% to 23.235 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which rose 6.43% to 150.700, Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which was up 2.98% to settle at 44.450 and LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which gained 2.31% to close at 13.525.
The worst performers were Drillisch AG O.N. (XETRA:DRIG) which was down 2.09% to 36.510 in late trade, Morphosys AG O.N. (XETRA:MORG) which lost 1.56% to settle at 73.280 and Bechtle AG O.N. (XETRA:BC8G) which was down 1.52% to 71.500 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 421 to 324 and 15 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.99% to 15.81.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.17% or 2.00 to $1166.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in April rose 1.39% or 0.69 to hit $50.30 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 1.86% or 1.11 to trade at $58.70 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.13% to 1.0856, while EUR/GBP fell 0.46% to 0.7179.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 97.64.
