Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Gas & Water, Aerospace & Defense and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.46%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Valeo SA (PA:VLOF), which rose 2.81% or 3.70 points to trade at 135.15 at the close. Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) added 2.27% or 1.25 points to end at 56.28 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) was up 2.08% or 0.430 points to 21.100 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP), which lost 3.24% or 2.09 points to trade at 62.44 in late trade. L`Oreal SA (PA:OREP) declined 1.13% or 1.90 points to end at 165.65 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) shed 0.72% or 0.04 points to 5.27.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Thales (PA:TCFP) which rose 3.85% to 64.48, Nexans (PA:NEXS) which was up 3.45% to settle at 35.56 and Eiffage (PA:FOUG) which gained 3.02% to close at 57.57.
The worst performers were Ipsos (PA:ISOS) which was down 4.87% to 19.91 in late trade, Solocal Group (PA:LOCAL) which lost 3.75% to settle at 0.282 and Havas (PA:HAVA) which was down 3.37% to 7.450 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 420 to 305 and 46 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 0.69% to 21.61.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 1.01% or 11.90 to $1165.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.16% or 1.00 to hit $45.29 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.45% or 0.70 to trade at $48.01 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.03% to 1.1342, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.7342.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 95.02.
