Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Insurance, Technology and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.84%, while the MDAX index added 0.84%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Allianz SE VNA O.N. (DE:ALVG), which rose 2.93% or 4.350 points to trade at 152.600 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) added 2.58% or 0.320 points to end at 12.745 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) was up 1.68% or 1.070 points to 64.590 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN), which lost 3.30% or 2.380 points to trade at 69.770 in late trade. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) declined 2.67% or 0.440 points to end at 16.030 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) shed 1.92% or 0.250 points to 12.795.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which rose 3.50% to 89.050, Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was up 2.54% to settle at 48.590 and Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which gained 2.40% to close at 35.350.
The worst performers were Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which was down 1.67% to 67.180 in late trade, Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which lost 1.61% to settle at 28.48 and Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was down 1.40% to 42.400 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which rose 2.70% to 9.474, United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which was up 2.43% to settle at 43.670 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which gained 2.10% to close at 25.31.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 1.56% to 45.530 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which lost 1.37% to settle at 24.115 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was down 1.11% to 213.050 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 491 to 428 and 39 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.25% to 21.92.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.54% or 7.00 to $1297.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.59% or 1.19 to hit $44.73 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 3.10% or 1.47 to trade at $45.90 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.52% to 1.1514, while EUR/GBP rose 0.11% to 0.7852.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.38% at 92.67.
