Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Manufacturing, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 1.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p), which rose 4.40% or 60.0 points to trade at 1425.0 at the close. RDR United Company RUSAL PLC (MCX:RUALR) added 2.90% or 8.50 points to end at 301.50 and Lukoil (MCX:LKOH) was up 2.58% or 63.0 points to 2503.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included PIK (MCX:PIKK), which lost 3.21% or 6.00 points to trade at 181.00 in late trade. MMK (MCX:MAGN) declined 1.84% or 0.417 points to end at 22.193 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) shed 1.57% or 0.57 points to 35.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 135 to 73 and 10 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.65% to 44.250.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.92% or 10.40 to $1123.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.97% or 0.91 to hit $47.16 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.12% or 0.56 to trade at $51.06 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.03% to 66.814, while EUR/RUB fell 1.21% to 74.289.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.58% at 96.44.
