Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Metals and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.93%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.86%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI), which rose 3.76% or 34.45 points to trade at 950.35 at the close. TATA STEEL LIMITED (NS:TISC) added 2.71% or 6.15 points to end at 233.00 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was up 2.64% or 1.95 points to 75.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM), which lost 1.63% or 21.40 points to trade at 1290.70 in late trade. Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) declined 1.49% or 26.15 points to end at 1733.80 and Yes Bank Ltd. (NS:YESB) shed 1.34% or 9.60 points to 707.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which rose 3.71% to 949.90, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which was up 2.71% to settle at 75.75 and TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which gained 2.69% to close at 232.95.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 1.66% to 1291.05 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd. (BO:TAMO) which lost 1.18% to settle at 389.30 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 1.02% to 231.95 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1064 to 373 and 11 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 579 rose and 214 declined, while 14 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.59% to 16.2925.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.47% or 5.10 to $1071.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.09% or 0.04 to hit $37.12 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.21% or 0.09 to trade at $40.20 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.19% to 66.805, while EUR/INR fell 0.83% to 73.1150.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.52% at 97.84.
