Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Consumption and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 5.43% or 0.22 points to trade at 4.27 at the close. Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) added 4.20% or 0.32 points to end at 7.94 and WEG SA (SA:WEGE3) was up 3.48% or 0.60 points to 17.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4), which lost 5.02% or 0.47 points to trade at 8.90 in late trade. Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) declined 3.41% or 2.31 points to end at 65.50 and Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) shed 3.16% or 1.17 points to 35.83.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 174 to 171 and 35 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 6.42% to 31.50.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.22% or 2.81 to $1270.01 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.56% or 0.28 to hit $49.28 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 1.47% or 1.95 to trade at $130.32 .
USD/BRL was up 0.81% to 3.1728, while EUR/BRL rose 0.58% to 3.4599.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 98.84.
