Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Media, Industrials and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.46% to hit a new 3-month low, while the MDAX index fell 1.29%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG), which fell 0.08% or 0.070 points to trade at 88.540 at the close. Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) fell 0.15% or 0.110 points to end at 70.990 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was down 0.26% or 0.09 points to 34.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which lost 14.53% or 4.750 points to trade at 27.935 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 3.26% or 0.345 points to end at 10.230 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) shed 3.09% or 0.780 points to 24.475.
The top performers on the MDAX were Rational AG (BS:RAAd) which rose 3.64% to 547.40, Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was up 1.08% to settle at 3.94 and Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which gained 0.40% to close at 13.885.
The worst performers were RTL Group SA (DE:RRTL) which was down 5.03% to 62.350 in late trade, Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which lost 4.10% to settle at 52.460 and Metro AG (DE:MEOG) which was down 3.86% to 8.886 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which rose 0.88% to 35.100, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was up 0.43% to settle at 30.62 and GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which gained 0.06% to close at 15.530.
The worst performers were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was down 27.52% to 4.370 in late trade, Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which lost 3.23% to settle at 9.193 and Software AG O.N. (DE:SOWG) which was down 2.72% to 35.705 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 637 to 132 and 23 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 10.16% to 16.89.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.44% or 5.76 to $1321.06 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.42% or 0.66 to hit $45.91 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.19% or 0.10 to trade at $51.32 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.33% to 1.2018, while EUR/GBP rose 0.31% to 0.9291.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 91.94.
