Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Utilities, Insurance and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.06%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.07%, and the TecDAX index added 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 2.77% or 0.475 points to trade at 17.625 at the close. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) added 2.03% or 0.164 points to end at 8.243 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) was up 1.28% or 0.260 points to 20.500 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which lost 2.06% or 0.720 points to trade at 34.245 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 0.80% or 0.090 points to end at 11.110 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) shed 0.80% or 0.210 points to 25.920.
The top performers on the MDAX were Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which rose 3.90% to 70.171, Innogy SE (DE:IGY) which was up 2.71% to settle at 35.265 and STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which gained 2.58% to close at 64.500.
The worst performers were Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which was down 1.95% to 51.850 in late trade, Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which lost 1.55% to settle at 18.070 and Metro AG ST O.N. (DE:MEOG) which was down 1.41% to 29.090 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which rose 3.12% to 15.045, Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which was up 2.03% to settle at 22.640 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which gained 1.68% to close at 53.400.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 6.14% to 11.610 in late trade, Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which lost 1.84% to settle at 10.695 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was down 1.29% to 4.298 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 412 to 343 and 28 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.69% to 14.71.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.03% or 12.55 to $1210.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.59% or 1.18 to hit $44.34 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 2.58% or 1.24 to trade at $46.87 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.20% to 1.1400, while EUR/GBP rose 0.48% to 0.8850.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 95.81.
