Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p), which rose 3.00% or 1.225 points to trade at 42.120 at the close. RDR United Company RUSAL PLC (MCX:RUALR) added 2.92% or 8.50 points to end at 299.50 and AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) was up 2.46% or 3140 points to 130650 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI), which lost 6.06% or 0.0315 points to trade at 0.4885 in late trade. E.ON Russia (MCX:EONR) declined 4.42% or 0.1300 points to end at 2.8100 and Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE) shed 3.51% or 70.0 points to 1926.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 105 to 93 and 7 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.10% to 33.220.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.03% or 0.40 to $1201.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.12% or 1.29 to hit $59.53 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.62% or 1.69 to trade at $62.58 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.75% to 54.230, while EUR/RUB rose 1.12% to 61.469.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.20% at 94.40.
