Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Pharma & Bio-technology, Healthcare and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 1.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL), which rose 6.53% or 0.33 points to trade at 5.34 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) added 4.39% or 3.58 points to end at 85.06 and KBC (BR:KBC) was up 2.41% or 1.240 points to 52.740 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ageas (BR:AGES), which lost 1.50% or 0.580 points to trade at 38.135 in late trade. Elia (BR:ELI) declined 0.80% or 0.350 points to end at 43.165 and Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB) shed 0.30% or 0.21 points to 69.48.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 83 to 64 and 7 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 1.12% or 12.40 to $1117.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 5.09% or 1.54 to hit $31.89 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 5.30% or 1.66 to trade at $32.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.0846, while EUR/GBP fell 0.81% to 0.7552.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 99.16.
