Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Industrials and Technology sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Food & Beverages, Media and Financial Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.24%, while the MDAX index fell 0.07%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which rose 6.64% or 0.448 points to trade at 7.196 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) added 3.76% or 0.555 points to end at 15.305 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) was up 2.91% or 0.615 points to 21.735 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which lost 3.45% or 0.425 points to trade at 11.905 in late trade. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) declined 1.86% or 0.57 points to end at 30.02 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) shed 1.74% or 0.590 points to 33.300.
The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which rose 7.27% to 10.44, Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which was up 5.06% to settle at 33.030 and Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which gained 3.14% to close at 29.860.
The worst performers were LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which was down 2.80% to 69.490 in late trade, Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which lost 2.35% to settle at 26.780 and Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was down 2.15% to 37.935 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which rose 4.33% to 47.800, Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was up 4.01% to settle at 43.595 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which gained 3.33% to close at 5.580.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 3.39% to 17.400 in late trade, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which lost 3.13% to settle at 37.555 and STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which was down 3.01% to 44.800 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 502 to 402 and 22 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.12% to 20.58.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.42% or 5.15 to $1219.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.42% or 1.05 to hit $42.36 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 2.28% or 1.02 to trade at $43.73 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.20% to 1.0724, while EUR/GBP fell 0.36% to 0.8597.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.15% at 100.13.
