Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Food & Beverages, Transportation & Logistics and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.45%, while the MDAX index fell 0.03%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Boerse AG Z.UMT. (DE:DB11), which rose 1.05% or 0.90 points to trade at 86.81 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) added 1.05% or 0.240 points to end at 23.200 and Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) was up 0.77% or 1.20 points to 157.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 2.79% or 0.450 points to trade at 15.700 in late trade. Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) declined 1.46% or 0.605 points to end at 40.900 and Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) shed 1.37% or 2.45 points to 175.85.
The top performers on the MDAX were Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which rose 1.69% to 98.18, GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which was up 1.31% to settle at 40.360 and Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which gained 1.22% to close at 36.530.
The worst performers were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 2.01% to 4.44 in late trade, Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which lost 1.58% to settle at 16.22 and Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which was down 1.30% to 23.215 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 2.91% to 64.260, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was up 1.52% to settle at 119.90 and S&T AG (F:SANT1) which gained 1.02% to close at 10.405.
The worst performers were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was down 2.98% to 79.800 in late trade, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which lost 2.29% to settle at 46.770 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 1.61% to 12.200 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 415 to 351 and 30 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 9.31% to 16.34 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.34% or 4.25 to $1255.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.79% or 0.40 to hit $50.20 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.77% or 0.41 to trade at $53.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.08% to 1.0663, while EUR/GBP rose 0.60% to 0.8539.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 100.42.
