Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Mining and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 2.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Gruppa Cherkizovo ao (MCX:GCHE), which rose 1.81% or 16.0 points to trade at 900.0 at the close. AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) added 1.58% or 0.290 points to end at 18.640 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) was up 1.19% or 6.50 points to 553.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX), which lost 6.17% or 51.00 points to trade at 775.00 in late trade. Sollers (MCX:SVAV) declined 5.34% or 25.0 points to end at 443.0 and Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p) shed 4.52% or 8.10 points to 171.30.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 152 to 69 and 10 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.69% to 38.090.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.75% or 8.50 to $1124.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 3.17% or 1.49 to hit $45.47 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.85% or 0.91 to trade at $48.02 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.40% to 66.359, while EUR/RUB fell 0.14% to 73.799.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.48% at 96.50.
