Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Transportation & Logistics, Insurance and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 1.72%, while the MDAX index fell 1.35%, and the TecDAX index fell 1.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG), which rose 2.84% or 0.705 points to trade at 25.570 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG) fell 0.24% or 0.030 points to end at 12.360 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN) was down 0.24% or 0.180 points to 73.840 in late trade.
Biggest losers included K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN), which lost 5.91% or 1.890 points to trade at 30.080 in late trade. Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DPWGn) declined 4.35% or 1.295 points to end at 28.465 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p) shed 2.97% or 6.750 points to 220.550.
The top performers on the MDAX were Hannover Rueckversicherung SE (XETRA:HNRGn) which rose 1.49% to 88.480, Kabel Deutschland Holding AG O.N. (XETRA:KD8Gn) which was up 1.11% to settle at 123.150 and Kion Group AG (XETRA:KGX) which gained 0.79% to close at 41.51.
The worst performers were Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which was down 3.79% to 18.000 in late trade, Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which lost 3.61% to settle at 39.000 and Deutsche Annington Immobilien SE (XETRA:ANNGn) which was down 2.51% to 28.92 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (XETRA:EVTG) which rose 2.24% to 3.967, QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which was up 2.19% to settle at 1.960 and Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which gained 1.41% to close at 5.330.
The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was down 3.66% to 113.050 in late trade, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which lost 3.45% to settle at 6.575 and Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which was down 3.08% to 157.500 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 610 to 125 and 35 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 6.43% to 22.52.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.83% or 9.80 to $1192.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.53% or 1.50 to hit $60.75 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.81% or 1.84 to trade at $67.47 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.81% to 1.1246, while EUR/GBP rose 0.14% to 0.7167.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.71% at 94.44.
