Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Real Estate & Construction and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 1.79%, while the ADX General index added 0.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA), which rose 14.88% or 0.068 points to trade at 0.525 at the close. Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) added 7.64% or 0.120 points to end at 1.690 and Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) was up 6.19% or 0.035 points to 0.600 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Takaful House (DU:DTKF), which lost 1.68% or 0.009 points to trade at 0.528 in late trade. ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX) declined 1.23% or 0.040 points to end at 3.210 and National Cement Company P.S.C. (DU:NCC) 0.00% or 0.000 points to 3.500.
The top performers on the ADX General were Arkan Bld Mt C (AD:ARKN) which rose 13.64% to 1.00, Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which was up 6.00% to settle at 0.530 and Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which gained 5.79% to close at 6.40.
The worst performers were Abu Dhabi National Hotels Co (AD:ADNH) which was down 5.26% to 2.70 in late trade, Bank Of Sharja (AD:BOS) which lost 4.43% to settle at 1.51 and Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which was down 2.99% to 2.92 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 24 to 2; on the Abu Dhabi, 13 rose and 9 declined on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 1.40% or 0.62 to $45.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.08% or 0.52 to hit $48.27 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.44% or 4.80 to trade at $1107.40 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was down 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.49% to 4.1191.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 96.00.
