Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Niznekamskneftekhim ao (MCX:NKNC), which rose 4.15% or 1.800 points to trade at 45.200 at the close. ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) added 3.97% or 2.230 points to end at 58.340 and NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) was up 3.00% or 16.50 points to 567.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY), which lost 4.99% or 31.50 points to trade at 599.50 in late trade. Magnit (MCX:MGNT) declined 2.81% or 300.0 points to end at 10367.0 and DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) shed 2.46% or 7.20 points to 286.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 127 to 106 and 6 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.86% to 44.040 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.95% or 10.40 to $1085.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 4.23% or 1.33 to hit $30.08 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 4.02% or 1.28 to trade at $30.60 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.69% to 76.552, while EUR/RUB rose 1.44% to 83.690.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.26% at 99.18.
