Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Consumer Durables and Metals sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.56%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.55%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which rose 3.91% or 1.60 points to trade at 42.55 at the close. UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) added 2.58% or 116.60 points to end at 4643.00 and Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT) was up 2.44% or 75.90 points to 3188.85 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD), which lost 2.45% or 4.95 points to trade at 197.00 in late trade. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) declined 1.38% or 6.40 points to end at 458.75 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) shed 1.06% or 14.10 points to 1317.70.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which rose 2.47% to 4641.05, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was up 2.43% to settle at 787.50 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which gained 2.03% to close at 1359.80.

The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 2.16% to 196.90 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which lost 1.21% to settle at 1316.00 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 0.49% to 447.70 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 879 to 652 and 95 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1309 rose and 1087 declined, while 155 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.86% to 15.5600.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.29% or 4.60 to $1560.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.45% or 0.25 to hit $55.34 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.31 to trade at $61.73 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.16% to 71.274, while EUR/INR fell 0.28% to 78.6760.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 97.610.
