Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE), which rose 1.88% or 58.0 points to trade at 3149.0 at the close. MVideo (MCX:MVID) added 1.82% or 5.80 points to end at 325.00 and ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p) was up 1.29% or 25.0 points to 1970.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF), which lost 2.78% or 22.70 points to trade at 793.30 in late trade. NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) declined 2.65% or 2.50 points to end at 91.76 and Lukoil (MCX:LKOH) shed 2.42% or 68.0 points to 2738.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 119 to 100 and 23 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.04% to 28.270.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.37% or 5.05 to $1351.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.75% or 0.75 to hit $42.02 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.49% or 0.67 to trade at $44.31 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.27% to 64.6013, while EUR/RUB rose 0.18% to 72.172.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.48% at 95.60.
