Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Building & Construction, Telecoms & IT and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Abengoa B (MADRID:ABGek), which rose 6.39% or 0.184 points to trade at 3.064 at the close. Sacyr (MADRID:SCYR) added 3.71% or 0.149 points to end at 4.170 and Obrascon Huarte Lain (MADRID:OHL) was up 1.78% or 0.335 points to 19.140 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mapfre (MADRID:MAP), which lost 0.80% or 0.026 points to trade at 3.222 in late trade. Inditex (MADRID:ITX) declined 0.61% or 0.177 points to end at 28.867 and BBVA (MADRID:BBVA) shed 0.51% or 0.046 points to 9.085.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 142 to 69 and 5 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.61% or 7.20 to $1181.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.74% or 0.44 to hit $58.95 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.10% or 0.72 to trade at $65.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.45% to 1.1151, while EUR/GBP fell 1.39% to 0.7151.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 95.14.
