Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Real Estate and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.10% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ageas (BRU:AGES), which rose 1.52% or 0.485 points to trade at 32.355 at the close. Delhaize Group (BRU:DELB) added 1.23% or 0.87 points to end at 71.84 and Elia (BRU:ELI) was up 0.81% or 0.310 points to 38.600 in late trade.
Biggest losers included DIeteren SA (BRU:IETB), which lost 1.31% or 0.450 points to trade at 33.950 in late trade. Umicore NV (BRU:UMI) declined 1.04% or 0.46 points to end at 43.83 and Solvay (BRU:SOLB) shed 0.89% or 1.15 points to 128.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 117 to 50 and 5 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.66% or 7.90 to $1182.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.99% or 1.21 to hit $59.72 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.97% or 1.33 to trade at $66.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.61% to 1.1280, while EUR/GBP fell 0.44% to 0.7410.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.57% at 94.73.
