China shares higher at close of trade; Shanghai Composite up 0.01%

Investing.com – China equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology Hardware & Equipment, Technology and Software & Computer Services sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite added 0.01%, while the SZSE Component index gained 1.12%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Jonjee Tech (SS:600872), which rose 10.03% or 1.800 points to trade at 19.750 at the close. Changhong Elec (SS:600839) added 10.03% or 0.720 points to end at 7.900 and Ronghua Ind (SS:600311) was up 10.03% or 0.910 points to 9.980 in late trade.

Biggest losers included China Ship (SS:600026), which lost 7.92% or 1.130 points to trade at 13.130 in late trade. Merchants Ship (SS:601872) declined 6.23% or 0.690 points to end at 10.390 and Sh Duolun (SS:600696) shed 5.95% or 0.800 points to 12.640.

The top performers on the SZSE Component were ZTE Corp (SZ:000063) which rose 10.01% to 30.76, Leshi Internet Info Tech (SZ:300104) which was up 10.00% to settle at 134.20 and Shan Dong Dong-E E-Jiao Co Ltd (SZ:000423) which gained 6.11% to close at 53.80.

The worst performers were Iflytek Co Ltd (SZ:002230) which was down 3.76% to 47.93 in late trade, Changjiang Securities Co Ltd (SZ:000783) which lost 3.54% to settle at 18.25 and Weifu High-Technology Group Co Ltd (SZ:000581) which was down 2.81% to 37.32 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 806 to 165 on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was down 3.87% to 32.58.

In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.46% or 5.60 to $1208.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.74% or 0.42 to hit $56.64 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.57% or 0.37 to trade at $64.27 a barrel.

USD/CNY was down 0.05% to 6.2036, while EUR/CNY rose 0.04% to 6.8142.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 96.05.
