Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Services, Consumer Staples and Banking sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Insurance, Real Estate & Construction and Transport sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General added 0.49%, while the ADX General index fell 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA), which rose 5.04% or 0.06 points to trade at 1.25 at the close. Emirates NBD PJSC (DU:ENBD) added 4.79% or 0.350 points to end at 7.650 and SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) was up 4.38% or 0.017 points to 0.405 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN), which lost 3.70% or 0.020 points to trade at 0.520 in late trade. Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) declined 3.29% or 0.014 points to end at 0.411 and Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV) shed 2.40% or 0.015 points to 0.610.
The top performers on the ADX General were Rak Cmt & Cons (AD:RAKC) which rose 13.71% to 1.41, Abu Dhabi National Hotels Co (AD:ADNH) which was up 7.41% to settle at 2.90 and Bank Of Sharja (AD:BOS) which gained 4.26% to close at 1.47.
The worst performers were Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which was down 9.38% to 0.290 in late trade, First Gulf Bk (AD:FGB) which lost 2.32% to settle at 12.65 and Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) which was down 1.85% to 0.540 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 16 to 11 and 1 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 11 fell and 11 advanced, while 2 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 2.47% or 0.94 to $36.94 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 1.75% or 0.66 to hit $37.13 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.12% or 1.30 to trade at $1066.70 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6729, while EUR/AED rose 0.03% to 4.0119.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 98.34.
