Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Basic Resources and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Utilities, Insurance and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.49% to hit a new 1-month low, while the MDAX index declined 0.37%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which rose 2.14% or 0.71 points to trade at 34.16 at the close. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) added 0.35% or 0.050 points to end at 14.435 and Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) was up 0.03% or 0.050 points to 143.150 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 8.47% or 1.110 points to trade at 11.990 in late trade. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) declined 3.79% or 0.250 points to end at 6.350 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) shed 3.64% or 4.450 points to 117.950.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which rose 2.02% to 47.980, Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXId) which was up 1.78% to settle at 74.460 and Fielmann AG (DE:FIEG) which gained 1.02% to close at 71.330.
The worst performers were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was down 2.54% to 31.125 in late trade, Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which lost 2.12% to settle at 62.650 and Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was down 1.68% to 27.145 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which rose 6.09% to 44.940, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was up 3.71% to settle at 31.180 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which gained 2.96% to close at 23.160.
The worst performers were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 3.06% to 10.780 in late trade, Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which lost 2.49% to settle at 5.953 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was down 2.13% to 53.190 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 487 to 349 and 35 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.45% to 19.82.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.51% or 6.75 to $1311.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.82% or 0.80 to hit $43.11 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.37% or 0.64 to trade at $45.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.76% to 1.1159, while EUR/GBP rose 0.42% to 0.8529.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.73% at 95.98.
