Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Computers & Peripherals and Biotech & Medical Care sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.02% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were E-Lead Elec (TW:2497), which rose 10.00% or 4.25 points to trade at 46.75 at the close. Advanced Power (TW:8261) added 9.96% or 2.80 points to end at 30.90 and Global Brands (TW:6191) was up 9.94% or 0.64 points to 7.08 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Abocom Systems (TW:2444), which lost 9.97% or 0.87 points to trade at 7.86 in late trade. Twn Cogenerati (TW:8926) declined 5.43% or 1.20 points to end at 20.90 and Logah (TW:3593) shed 4.71% or 0.40 points to 8.10.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 526 to 316 and 2 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.02% or 0.01 to $44.62 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.44% or 0.21 to hit $48.83 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.37% or 4.10 to trade at $1107.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.47% to 32.551, while TWD/CNY fell 0.66% to 0.1956.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.27% at 95.12.
