Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms & IT, Building & Construction and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 0.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA), which rose 4.39% or 0.200 points to trade at 4.752 at the close. ACS Const. (MC:ACS) added 3.91% or 1.005 points to end at 26.695 and Acerinox (MC:ACX) was up 3.54% or 0.348 points to 10.185 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Endesa (MC:ELE), which lost 1.03% or 0.180 points to trade at 17.240 in late trade. Iberdrola (MC:IBE) declined 0.72% or 0.043 points to end at 5.951 and B. Sabadell (MC:SABE) shed 0.49% or 0.008 points to 1.625.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 148 to 56 and 17 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.69% or 8.60 to $1228.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.65% or 0.25 to hit $38.53 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.98% or 0.39 to trade at $40.24 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.28% to 1.1326, while EUR/GBP rose 0.17% to 0.7873.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 94.87.
