Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Textile, Semiconductor and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Aver (TW:3669), which rose 9.91% or 1.60 points to trade at 17.75 at the close. Hsin Ba Ba (TW:9906) added 9.00% or 1.90 points to end at 23.00 and Unitech Printed Circuit Board (TW:2367) was up 7.21% or 0.75 points to 11.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tainan Cayman (TW:5906), which lost 5.82% or 0.110 points to trade at 1.780 in late trade. Abnova (TW:4133) declined 4.57% or 1.80 points to end at 37.55 and Paiho Shih (TW:8404) shed 4.33% or 1.65 points to 36.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 507 to 237 and 109 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.78% or 0.38 to $49.00 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.71% or 0.35 to hit $49.99 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.07% or 0.85 to trade at $1243.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.25% to 32.355, while TWD/CNY fell 0.24% to 0.2048.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.36% at 94.24.
