Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Power, Manufacturing and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.68% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Uralkaliy (MCX:URKA), which rose 4.82% or 9.35 points to trade at 203.35 at the close. FSK EES (MCX:FEES) added 4.25% or 0.0073 points to end at 0.1795 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) was up 2.70% or 2.75 points to 104.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK), which lost 1.97% or 13.60 points to trade at 677.90 in late trade. Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRODR) declined 1.02% or 9 points to end at 873 and Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) shed 1.02% or 0.330 points to 32.005.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 126 to 101 and 24 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.48% to 23.910 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.21% or 2.85 to $1330.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.38% or 1.05 to hit $45.20 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.69% or 0.79 to trade at $47.62 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.11% to 65.0243, while EUR/RUB fell 0.22% to 72.516.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.15% at 95.73.
