United Arab Emirates shares lower at close of trade; DFM General down 0.64%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Services, Consumer Staples and Transport sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 0.64%, while the ADX General index declined 0.38%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which rose 6.61% or 0.160 points to trade at 2.580 at the close. Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) added 5.85% or 0.031 points to end at 0.561 and Takaful House (DU:DTKF) was up 1.79% or 0.016 points to 0.912 in late trade.

Biggest losers included SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA), which lost 5.06% or 0.080 points to trade at 1.500 in late trade. Amanat Holdings PJSC (DU:AMANT) declined 2.82% or 0.027 points to end at 0.931 and Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA) shed 2.80% or 0.04 points to 1.39.

The top performers on the ADX General were Green Crs Ins (AD:GCIC) which rose 14.55% to 0.630, Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which was up 8.43% to settle at 2.830 and Bank Of Sharja (AD:BOS) which gained 3.85% to close at 1.350.

The worst performers were Emirates Ins C (AD:EIC) which was down 9.57% to 5.20 in late trade, Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which lost 5.68% to settle at 0.8300 and Finance House (AD:FH) which was down 3.89% to 1.730 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 22 to 11 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 18 fell and 11 advanced, while 5 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.68% or 0.36 to $53.31 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.69% or 0.38 to hit $55.59 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.22% or 2.55 to trade at $1139.95 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was down 0.01% to 3.6729, while EUR/AED fell 0.08% to 3.8358.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 102.84.
