Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Finance & Investment, Transport and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 0.28%, while the ADX General index lost 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Dubai National Insurance (DU:DNIN), which rose 1.96% or 0.050 points to trade at 2.600 at the close. Emirate Integrated Telecom Co PJSC (DU:DU) added 1.63% or 0.080 points to end at 4.900 and Emaar Malls Group (DU:EMAA) was up 1.09% or 0.03 points to 2.79 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN), which lost 5.83% or 0.034 points to trade at 0.549 in late trade. AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) declined 3.68% or 0.070 points to end at 1.830 and Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV) shed 3.53% or 0.017 points to 0.465.
The top performers on the ADX General were Ad Aviation (AD:ADAV) which rose 11.11% to 3.00, Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which was up 8.54% to settle at 0.890 and Arkan Bld Mt C (AD:ARKN) which gained 3.70% to close at 0.84.
The worst performers were Rak Ceramics (AD:RKCE) which was down 5.71% to 3.30 in late trade, Green Crs Ins (AD:GCIC) which lost 3.85% to settle at 0.750 and Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which was down 2.44% to 0.400 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 16 to 9 and 2 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 13 rose and 12 declined, while 3 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 1.86% or 0.76 to $41.42 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 2.30% or 1.00 to hit $44.57 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.02% or 0.20 to trade at $1068.40 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED rose 0.18% to 3.9169.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 99.63.
