Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Real Estate & Construction and Finance & Investment sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General fell 0.69%, while the ADX General index lost 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA), which rose 2.65% or 0.03 points to trade at 1.16 at the close. Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) added 0.74% or 0.020 points to end at 2.730 and National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) was up 0.65% or 0.010 points to 1.540 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN), which lost 4.25% or 0.026 points to trade at 0.586 in late trade. Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) declined 3.00% or 0.015 points to end at 0.485 and Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU:DFM) shed 2.86% or 0.040 points to 1.360.
The top performers on the ADX General were Rak Cmt & Cons (AD:RAKC) which rose 6.36% to 1.170, Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which was up 5.26% to settle at 0.400 and Eshraq Properties Co PJSC (AD:ESHR) which gained 4.00% to close at 0.7800.
The worst performers were Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which was down 4.60% to 0.8300 in late trade, Methaq (AD:METH) which lost 2.17% to settle at 0.900 and Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which was down 1.79% to 0.550 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 21 to 6 and 6 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 14 fell and 8 advanced, while 5 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 2.69% or 1.32 to $47.79 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 3.05% or 1.55 to hit $49.33 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.50% or 6.75 to trade at $1339.45 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED fell 0.23% to 4.1494.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.23% at 94.70.
