United Arab Emirates shares higher at close of trade; DFM General up 0.37%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Insurance, Telecoms and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 0.37%, while the ADX General index gained 1.16%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN), which rose 14.89% or 0.126 points to trade at 0.972 at the close. Takaful House (DU:DTKF) added 5.31% or 0.060 points to end at 1.190 and Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) was up 5.16% or 0.022 points to 0.448 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Damac Properties Dubai Co PSC (DU:DAMAC), which lost 3.01% or 0.090 points to trade at 2.900 in late trade. ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX) declined 2.16% or 0.110 points to end at 4.990 and AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) shed 0.84% or 0.010 points to 1.180.

The top performers on the ADX General were Green Crs Ins (AD:GCIC) which rose 13.04% to 0.780, National Bank of Fujairah PJSC (AD:NBF) which was up 10.03% to settle at 3.29 and Union Cement (AD:UCC) which gained 8.70% to close at 1.250.

The worst performers were Commercial Bank International (AD:CBI) which was down 6.58% to 1.420 in late trade, Invest Bank AD (AD:INVB) which lost 5.62% to settle at 2.350 and Agthia Group (AD:AGTH) which was down 2.81% to 5.53 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 28 to 6 and 2 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 16 rose and 8 declined, while 4 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.12% or 0.06 to $48.38 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.18% or 0.09 to hit $50.67 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.52% or 6.57 to trade at $1265.43 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6732, while EUR/AED fell 0.12% to 4.1234.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 97.10.
