Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Transport, Banking and Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General added 0.28%, while the ADX General index added 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Dubai National Insurance (DU:DNIN), which rose 8.37% or 0.220 points to trade at 2.850 at the close. Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) added 5.49% or 0.052 points to end at 1.000 and Takaful House (DU:DTKF) was up 4.43% or 0.027 points to 0.637 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dubai Investments PJSC (DU:DINV), which lost 2.68% or 0.080 points to trade at 2.910 in late trade. AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) declined 1.52% or 0.030 points to end at 1.940 and Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) shed 1.24% or 0.030 points to 2.380.
The top performers on the ADX General were Natl Co Bldg M (AD:BILD) which rose 9.52% to 0.690, Methaq (AD:METH) which was up 6.78% to settle at 1.260 and National Corp Tourism Hotels (AD:NCTH) which gained 6.74% to close at 4.91.
The worst performers were Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which was down 10.00% to 7.20 in late trade, Abu Dhabi National Hotels Co (AD:ADNH) which lost 3.33% to settle at 2.90 and Union Cement (AD:UCC) which was down 3.23% to 1.20 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 16 to 13; on the Abu Dhabi, 16 rose and 14 declined, while 3 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.70% or 0.34 to $49.13 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.91% or 0.48 to hit $53.87 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.04% or 0.40 to trade at $1092.90 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.61% to 4.0106.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.47% at 97.68.
