Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Travel & Leisure and Beverage sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 2.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 4.23% or 89.00 points to trade at 2191.00 at the close. British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) added 2.54% or 10.10 points to end at 407.30 and Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA) was up 2.16% or 11.80 points to 558.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 16.23% or 84.50 points to trade at 436.10 in late trade. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) declined 14.86% or 47.40 points to end at 271.60 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) shed 10.68% or 126.5 points to 1057.5.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1367 to 840 and 137 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.35% or 23.20 to $1736.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.24% or 0.08 to hit $33.63 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.06% or 0.02 to trade at $36.01 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.06% to 1.2308, while EUR/GBP rose 0.23% to 0.9010.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 98.427.
