Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Oil & Gas Producers and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 1.91% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RKT), which rose 2.90% or 178.00 points to trade at 6,316.00 at the close. Unilever PLC (LON:ULVR) added 1.85% or 65.50 points to end at 3,606.50 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) was up 1.34% or 27.00 points to 2,039.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which lost 6.85% or 237.00 points to trade at 3,223.50 in late trade. BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) declined 6.31% or 170.50 points to end at 2,530.00 and BP PLC (LON:BP) shed 6.18% or 24.30 points to 368.85.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1557 to 417 and 362 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.99% or 38.45 to $1,895.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 4.85% or 4.95 to hit $97.12 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 4.93% or 5.23 to trade at $100.92 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.81% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.51% at 101.73.
