Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas Producers, Industrial Metals & Mining and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 1.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Bunzl PLC (LON:BNZL), which rose 1.01% or 27.0 points to trade at 2686.0 at the close. Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN) added 1.00% or 14.00 points to end at 1409.50 and National Grid PLC (LON:NG) was up 0.98% or 9.50 points to 978.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which lost 8.35% or 265.4 points to trade at 2912.0 in late trade. Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) declined 6.62% or 128.5 points to end at 1812.5 and Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq) shed 6.30% or 0.088 points to 1.308.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1570 to 446 and 404 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.08% or 1.45 to $1782.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.31% or 2.16 to hit $63.05 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 3.11% or 2.12 to trade at $66.11 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.66% to 1.3664, while EUR/GBP rose 0.50% to 0.8554.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 93.472.
