Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Mining, Industrial Metals & Mining and Beverage sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 1.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Bunzl PLC (LON:BNZL), which rose 9.82% or 185.0 points to trade at 2069.0 at the close. Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) added 2.37% or 56.0 points to end at 2417.0 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) was up 2.34% or 54.00 points to 2359.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 5.87% or 46.60 points to trade at 747.60 in late trade. Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) declined 5.06% or 26.60 points to end at 499.20 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) shed 4.65% or 37.40 points to 767.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1327 to 876 and 133 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.60% or 10.45 to $1726.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.30% or 0.47 to hit $36.73 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.86% or 0.72 to trade at $39.45 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.16% to 1.2559, while EUR/GBP rose 0.12% to 0.8986.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.50% at 96.847.
