Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Household Goods & Home Construction, Mobile Telecommunications and Electrical sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.91% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 3.61% or 63.8 points to trade at 1832.6 at the close. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) added 3.48% or 38.0 points to end at 1131.5 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) was up 2.82% or 4.70 points to 171.44 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV), which lost 6.97% or 37.60 points to trade at 501.80 in late trade. Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT) declined 6.45% or 58.50 points to end at 849.00 and Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) shed 5.22% or 138.0 points to 2503.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1358 to 822 and 152 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.32% or 6.15 to $1931.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 4.13% or 1.71 to hit $39.66 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 3.52% or 1.55 to trade at $42.52 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.21% to 1.3253, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.8933.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 92.855.
