Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrial Transportation, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Aerospace & Defense sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.90%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which rose 1.55% or 330.00 points to trade at 21,650.00 at the close. J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) added 1.19% or 3.20 points to end at 272.80 and B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) was up 1.18% or 4.30 points to 367.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT), which lost 14.03% or 880.00 points to trade at 5,392.00 in late trade. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 3.47% or 63.00 points to end at 1,752.50 and Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV) shed 3.31% or 23.50 points to 686.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1094 to 719 and 618 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.16% or 31.26 to $2,717.06 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.78% or 0.53 to hit $68.90 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.61% or 0.44 to trade at $72.58 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.28, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.45% to 0.82.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.33% at 106.17.
