Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Oil & Gas Producers and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.89%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Informa PLC (LON:INF), which rose 2.33% or 12.20 points to trade at 535.60 at the close. Segro Plc (LON:SGRO) added 1.61% or 18.00 points to end at 1136.00 and United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) was up 1.60% or 16.00 points to 1016.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which lost 4.55% or 67.00 points to trade at 1404.50 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 4.21% or 83.50 points to end at 1901.50 and BP PLC (LON:BP) shed 4.15% or 13.45 points to 310.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1347 to 854 and 224 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.55% or 9.85 to $1793.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.47% or 1.86 to hit $73.30 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 3.59% or 2.77 to trade at $74.39 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.46% to 1.3782, while EUR/GBP rose 0.08% to 0.8571.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 92.612.
