Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Mining, Industrial Metals & Mining and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.83%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 2.74% or 13.00 points to trade at 488.00 at the close. B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) added 2.19% or 9.60 points to end at 447.10 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) was up 1.72% or 8.00 points to 472.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV), which lost 6.78% or 48.00 points to trade at 660.00 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 5.63% or 30.50 points to end at 511.50 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) shed 4.81% or 106.50 points to 2,108.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1216 to 578 and 677 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.37% or 9.35 to $2,518.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.73% or 2.74 to hit $70.81 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 4.33% or 3.36 to trade at $74.16 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.38% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.07% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 101.74.
