Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Industrial Engineering and Electronic & Electrical Equipment sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.77% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV), which rose 2.39% or 14.00 points to trade at 600.00 at the close. RSA Insurance Group PLC (LON:RSA) added 2.25% or 12.00 points to end at 546.40 and Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) was up 2.15% or 47.00 points to 2227.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centrica PLC (LON:CNA), which lost 10.29% or 10.80 points to trade at 94.20 in late trade. Informa PLC (LON:INF) declined 4.58% or 36.00 points to end at 750.00 and ITV PLC (LON:ITV) shed 3.92% or 4.85 points to 118.75.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1519 to 567 and 291 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.25% or 3.15 to $1284.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.68% or 0.42 to hit $61.70 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.13% or 0.09 to trade at $70.28 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.15% to 1.3025, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.8614.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 97.197.
