Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Food & Drug Retailers and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.61%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSE), which rose 2.34% or 158.00 points to trade at 6904.00 at the close. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) added 2.30% or 1.64 points to end at 72.94 and DCC plc (LON:DCC) was up 1.52% or 112.0 points to 7496.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 7.14% or 91.50 points to trade at 1189.50 in late trade. NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC) declined 3.74% or 90.00 points to end at 2318.00 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) shed 3.49% or 74.00 points to 2044.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1197 to 887 and 231 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.30% or 4.45 to $1461.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.14% or 0.08 to hit $57.23 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.26% or 0.16 to trade at $62.45 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.31% to 1.2773, while EUR/GBP rose 0.08% to 0.8627.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 98.240.
