Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Industrial Engineering sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.59%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 6.46% or 58.20 points to trade at 959.60 at the close. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) added 2.92% or 61.00 points to end at 2151.00 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) was up 2.13% or 28.00 points to 1340.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA), which lost 3.73% or 19.30 points to trade at 498.50 in late trade. Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) declined 3.53% or 74.00 points to end at 2020.00 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) shed 2.98% or 65.00 points to 2119.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1226 to 892 and 205 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.56% or 8.65 to $1540.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.27% or 1.33 to hit $57.31 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.47% or 1.60 to trade at $63.17 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.50% to 1.2491, while EUR/GBP fell 0.24% to 0.8819.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 97.963.
